Olton Banking Center
Location: Olton, Texas
Client: Security State Bank
Project Completion: 1997
Project Size: 3,500 SF
Total Budget: $1,300,000
This branch bank located in a small rural community was to be the premier gathering space for the community, both business and social. Because of the vision of the bank owners for the new facility, the design for the building became symbolic of its status in the community. The massing suggests strength yet is dramatically accommodating to the open clerestory space inside. The community management room is separated from the bank by an operable glass wall adding to the feeling of inclusion.
The project scope included landscaping and interior design for the entire facility. The furnishings selected by the architect were both custom and a selection of antiques, further enhancing the general atmosphere established in the architecture of the facility.
The brick color and brick detailing is consistent with many of the existing civic buildings in the community. The careful detailing and consideration given to the facility resulted in its being awarded the Texas Downtown Association’s “Best New Construction of the Year” Award for 1997 and provided the City of Olton with a symbol of the prosperity of their community.
