SPARTAN Rural Mobility Center
Chapman Harvey Architects has worked with SPARTAN since the fall of 2014 to develop a new Administration Facility that includes fully operational Scheduling and Dispatch, a public waiting lobby, administrative offices, board room, a large conference room, and substantial file storage. Initial master plan developments focused on utilizing SPARTAN’s existing site for pedestrian, staff, parking , and fleet traffic patterns emphasizing clear ‘zones’ for each. Through the process, CHA has provided conceptual documents, renderings, and videos to SPARTAN to assist with funding grants that SPARTAN has applied for throughout the project. CHA has also kept TxDOT representatives up to date with constant communication, progress photos, and videos throughout the project. One of the primary desires for the owner in SPARTAN’s design was the inclusion of sustainable systems. Working through the different applicable systems CHA was able to implement passive heating and cooling, natural day lighting in the facility, water reclamation, permeable parking lots, and xeriscaping throughout to meet these design goals. SPARTAN opened their doors to the public June 2021.
