Sonora ISD - Field House

Project Size: 20,000 SF
Total Budget: $3,800,000
Chapman Harvey Architects, Inc. worked with the Sonora ISD Superintendent and School Board of Trustees to develop a Master Plan for an athletic facility. Having recently completed extensive renovations to their education facilities, Sonora ISD felt it was time to address the needs of their athletic programs and enlisted the CHA team to assist them in the development of a Master Plan. Through analysis of the existing site and facilities, interviews with coaches, and open sessions with board members, CHA developed a Master Plan for the Athletic facility which includes new girls and boys locker rooms, new weight room, new offices and support facilities, and a new indoor practice facility.
Using the Master Plan as the basis, design for the new field house began in 2008, which included locker rooms for Varsity Boys and Girls, Junior Varsity Boys and Girls, and Junior High Girls and Boys. The 20,000 square foot field house was designed to reflect the spirit of the Sonora Bronco Athletic program and serve as a symbol of Bronco Pride to the community and to their opponents. In addition, the existing field house, which remained in place to serve the visiting teams, was given a face lift that incorporated
design elements from the new field house.
Construction was completed in August of 2010 and through no coincidence, the Broncos celebrated a winning season in their new facility.
